Denise Andre started in funeral service in 1988, continuing until her maternity leave in 1995. She returned part time in 1996 and full time in 2010. Denise enjoys the variety of funeral service and being of help to people through a difficult time.
While working part time, Denise home-schooled her daughter, ran a family day care and taught skating. Denise began figure skating at the age of 6 and has skated competitively, skated professionally with Ice Follies and coached for about 15 years. Her passion for skating was passed to her daughter who also became a figure skater and a dancer, competing in both sports before becoming a professional ballet dancer. Denise hopes to someday be a figure skating judge.
Denise volunteers at two of the local dance studios, sewing costumes and working backstage during ballet recitals and theatre productions. She organizes Kiwanis' annual dance competition—constructing the syllabus, scheduling the competitors, recommending adjudicators and getting volunteer involvement. She also volunteers at Ballet Kelowna performances.
Denise and her husband have been together since 1984 and their marriage remains strong despite her extensive time away to help with her daughter's career. The two enjoy taking vacations together to relax. Denise has one daughter, a step daughter, step son and two granddaughters.
