Erickson-Anderson Mortuary has provided funeral and cremation services to families in La Mesa and beyond for nearly a century. Through the years, our services have evolved to reflect the changing needs of the community, but the funeral home’s commitment has always been to care for those who have lost loved ones with dignity and respect. We know losing someone is difficult, and we are here to guide you every step of the way.

A beautiful San Diego funeral home

Sitting area at Erickson-Anderson MortuaryBuilt in 1929 in the Spanish mission style, our distinctive building on Allison Avenue is a warm and welcoming place to plan a memorial service. Well-appointed interiors combine classic architectural elements with modern furnishings and include a large chapel with comfortable chair seating and a spacious area for catered receptions, which we are happy to help coordinate.

We pride ourselves on products and services you may not find elsewhere. Our Harley-Davidson funeral coach is a great example of that. One of only 12 such specially produced vehicles, this unusual coach allows family and friends to ride along with their loved one during the funeral procession. It was designed to carry a standard or an oversized casket; it is also equipped to transport an urn for a cremation ceremony.

Personalized funeral services

Reception room at Erickson-Anderson MortuaryErickson-Anderson Mortuary offers a broad range of services and welcomes people of all faiths and cultural backgrounds, and we are committed to offering fresh ideas and innovative ways to celebrate life. Whether your family’s customs call for a traditional funeral and cemetery burial; an intimate cremation followed by a toast; or a modern celebration of life with live music, catering and a send-off that reflects the personality and passions of your loved one, we go the extra mile to make it happen.

We believe that each person is special, and a unique life deserves a unique celebration. Certified funeral celebrants specialize in creating one-of-a-kind tributes that showcase a person’s interests and individuality. They are practiced at finding inspiration in a hobby, passion, style or favorite song and using it to inform a service like no other. From favorite foods and themed decor to preferred colors and personalized takeaways, we will do our very best to help you plan a fitting, memorable tribute.

We also handle details such as writing an obituary, coordinating pallbearers and arranging music. And the funeral home will prepare and file the death certificate and request copies for you.

Affordable cremation services

Chapel at Erickson-Anderson MortuaryWe believe cremation should be about memories, not high prices. Cremation is important in certain religions and cultures, but regardless of cultural or religious affiliations, more and more families are choosing cremation. The funeral home partners with a locally owned and operated crematorium and provides several choices for cremation services as well as affordable cremation packages. Get more information on starting prices for cremation services.

Some families choose direct cremation without a service. Some families opt for a traditional funeral service with the body present, followed by cremation. Still others have a loved one cremated and then hold a celebration of life at the funeral home, cemetery or a location especially meaningful to the person being remembered. Let a funeral director know what you’re thinking, and we will help you understand the cremation process and memorial options.

"I only made arrangements for the cremation of my spouse and did not have a large ceremony, but I never felt pressured into making more expensive plans. Options were offered to me but they kept everything according to my initial wishes and and the process was simple and easy."

December 2020

"My father passed away in 1976, my mother passed in 1988 and my sister passed in 1999. Erickson handled the arrangements for each. The police officer at the scene of my husband's death recommended a funeral home in El Cajon. Since I already had first hand knowledge of Erickson no one else would have been good enough. They have been and they still are very professional, respectful and sympathetic. They walked me through a very difficult time when I needed it most. I would highly recommend them to everyone. Thank you!!!"
