Custom memorial services in LaGrange, Georgia
At Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, we believe memorial services should reflect the personality and style of an individual. This guiding philosophy allows our team of licensed funeral directors to craft customized funeral ceremonies that reflect a loved one’s unique personality. In other words, we create tributes for the life they lived.
For veterans and military families, we are experienced at conducting military funerals, including coordinating funerals with military honors.
You have choices around the specific ceremony that's right for you—from traditional to contemporary. Our team has the deep knowledge of traditional religious funeral services and we're happy to coordinate with any religious leaders or your place of worship. For those who want a more contemporary ceremony, we can design personalized celebrations of life, which are often festive occasions to celebrate this life. There is no one-size-fits-all choice and we love helping people discover the right ceremony for them.
In 1929, Striffler-Hamby Mortuary began as Hammett and Groover Funeral Home, in LaGrange. In the mid 1950s, Hudson Maddox bought Hammett and Groover Funeral Home and changed the name to Maddox Funeral Home.
Hudson Maddox operated the funeral home at 118 Church Street until his retirement in 1973, when he sold the business to Joseph E. “Gene” Page and Hudson’s brother, Charles Maddox. In 1986, Gene Page sold the business to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary from Columbus, Georgia, and Maddox-Page Funeral Home was relocated to 1010 Mooty Bridge Road.
In 1989, the name changed from Maddox-Page Funeral Home to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. In 1995, Striffler-Hamby Mortuary was acquired by an affiliate of Service Corporation International. Today, we are a proud member of Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery providers.
