Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel has proudly served the city of Niagara Falls, Ontario, and the surrounding region for more than 90 years. Situated at 5176 Victoria Ave., our funeral home is an icon of the community and boasts the honour of being one of the oldest established businesses on the street. Though we first operated at 2 other locations on Victoria Avenue, Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel has been providing traditional funerals, memorial services and celebrations of life at its current address for nearly 85 years.

Here to serve you

Our professionals exemplify the care and compassion they offer to each family we serve. Our goal is to continue the time-honoured tradition of service established by our founders, Blake F. Hetherington and A. John "Jack" Deans. That tradition includes a strong commitment to the families who look to us for guidance and assistance in their time of grief, and a promise that we will uphold the highest level of service, compassion, integrity and dignity.

Personalized services

At Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel, we love to listen to your story and craft a service that truly honours and celebrates the life of your loved one. With many options available to you, ranging from traditional funeral services, to cremations with celebratory memorials, we are confident it will be a tribute remembered for years to come.

A trusted funeral provider

Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel is proud to be a member of the Dignity Memorial® network. When you choose us as your provider, you not only receive the compassionate care you expect from a locally operated establishment, but also the value you deserve from North America's largest and most trusted network of funeral, cremation and memorial services.

Front exterior building at Hetherington & Deans Funeral ChapelThe rich tradition of Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel started in 1925 when Blake F. Hetherington opened the doors of his funeral chapel on Victoria Avenue, in Niagara Falls, Ontario. During the early 1930s, Hetherington & Deans made its final move to 5176 Victoria Ave., where it remains today.

Hetherington & Deans has long claimed to have the oldest formal funeral chapel in Niagara Falls, complete with fixed pews. The chapel is home to a pipe organ which, during the funeral home’s “down times,” was made available for organ recitals and chorales through the 1940s.

After World War II, local resident A. John "Jack" Deans returned from his overseas service and joined Mr. Hetherington as a partner in the business. He remained a committed proprietor and funeral director until poor health prevented him from continuing. Mr. Deans retired in 1996.

Continued service

At Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel, we are proud of the reputation we have earned in our 90+ years in the Niagara Falls community. Today, we are proud to be part of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers since 1994.
