Personalized funeral services

For nearly a century, we have helped Tucson-area families with their funeral arrangements. We provide dignity and respect before, during and after the loss of a loved one. We pledge to guide you through the funeral planning process with patience and care. We also celebrate life.

What does that mean exactly?

Whether you are seeking a direct cremation, a full traditional funeral with a graveside service and cemetery burial, or a modern celebration with live music, catering and a send-off that reflects the personality and passions of yourself or your loved one, we go the extra mile to make it happen—and we do it with a high level of care and compassion.

Meeting the funeral needs of Hispanic families

We serve people of all cultures and faiths. We do, however, serve a large number of Hispanic families. We want you to have the opportunity to honor your loved ones according to your traditions. To that end, our exclusive services include bilingual personnel, transfers to country of origin, extended visitation hours and in-home visitations.

Please contact Funeraria del Angel to learn more about our funeral, cremation and burial services or if you need immediate assistance planning a funeral.

Located in Tucson, Funeraria del Angel is proud to continue the funeral home’s 91-year legacy of compassionate and professional service to families facing the most difficult events of their lives.

Our Tucson funeral home gets started

Lee C. Yocum established Arizona Mortuary on the northeast corner of Stone and 3rd in 1926. Lee had previously owned a funeral home in Logan, Ohio and decided to move to Tucson with his wife, Verna, and their 2 young children. Eventually, zoning changed and construction began on our Tucson funeral home.

When Lee died in 1939, Verna became president and director of Arizona Mortuary. As World War II occurred, Davis Monthan Air Force Base and Tucson Veterans Hospital awarded Arizona Mortuary the contracts to care for their deceased, and honored the funeral home with letters of commendation for outstanding service.

Growth, changing times

The funeral home’s reputation spread in Tucson, and Arizona Mortuary became a highly respected institution in the community. In the 1960s, the business expanded and opened Arizona Mortuary Eastside Chapel located east of town.

After Verna’s death in 1972, Verna’s son-in-law, Robert Long, took over as president of the funeral homes. The 2 locations continued to prosper, but the local scene was changing due to growth in all directions. In 1992, Arizona Mortuary became a member of a group of funeral, cremation and cemetery providers now known as the Dignity Memorial® network and received the ability to provide full-service funeral care to our families. The Eastside Chapel was closed, but other funeral businesses joined the network, including Palms Mortuary and Heather Mortuary.

Modern services for modern people

Changing times and ownership brought new programs to our Tucson funeral home, now known as Funeraria del Angel, including financed funeral and cremation services and planning ahead. Even through the changes, our dedicated team continues to provide caring, professional services to families in Tucson.
