History

In 1987, funeral directors Robert Hairell, Nancy Witte and Michael Biehunko decided that South Texans needed more options in funeral homes in Victoria, Texas. Guided by the motto ”Friends You Can Trust,” the trio built Rosewood Funeral Chapels from the ground up. They pooled their strengths to draw on their combined talents, focusing on providing care for families at a sensitive and emotional time.

Adapting to the Victoria community

As South Texans’ expectations of funeral services evolved, the trio soon earned a reputation for adapting to changing needs in excellence. Personalization became the byword, with more families requesting funeral services that recognized individuality. The cookie-cutter funeral mindset had ended.

As Texans’ acceptance of cremation grew, Rosewood recognized another way to meet families’ needs by offering interment of cremated remains to the Victoria-Port Lavaca area.

As the team looks toward the future, we will reach out to the community with innovative options that respectfully tell the stories of whose lives we honor.
