
Born April 21, 1933 in Overton, NB, he was the son of the late Lester and LaDene (Maize) Kempton.
Thomas was a U.S. Army veteran who served his country honorably from 1955 to 1958. He was employed for many years as a plant engineer with Lofton Corporation and later shared his expertise by teaching mechanical engineering, HVAC, and industrial electrical at Valley Career and Technical Center in Fishersville. Thomas had a deep love for antique cars and would strip them down to the frame, meticulously restoring each one. He was a proud member of the Antique Car Club. In earlier years, he enjoyed golfing, and later in life he found joy in taking golf cart rides around Shenandoah Acres.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bavette Marten.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn G. Kempton of Verona; children, Tamara Burton and husband, Tyler, of North Myrtle Beach, SC, William Kempton of Stuarts Draft, Carla Kempton of North Myrtle Beach, SC, and Christopher Kempton and wife, Sandra, of Stuarts Draft; grandsons, Austin Burton and Joshua Wyantt; four sisters, Joan Elting, Marcia Toombs and husband, Marvin, Beverly Harrison, and Barbra Adams; lifelong friend, Wylie Craig; and a number of nieces and nephews.
