History

Craciun Funeral Home's history dates back to 1941, when John Jr. and Yolanda Craciun began a tradition of excellent service funeral care in the Cleveland community. Located at 6204 Detroit Ave., the original Craciun Funeral Home sat across the street from St. Mary Romanian Orthodox Church.

He served his country as a medic (North Africa Campaign) and staff sergeant (European Campaign) in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars for his meritorious valor on the battlefield. After the war, John and his wife and business partner, Yolanda, began providing the community with funeral and cremation services.

Generations of care

Exterior at Craciun Funeral HomeTheir sons, Joseph and Jim Craciun, joined the family business in the 1970s. Joseph and Jim supported the Cleveland community through civic leadership and church involvement and saw their business grow through the years.

After John passed in 1985, Joseph, James and Yolanda acquired Koval Funeral Home in Middleburg Heights, opening the door to a whole new community of people. We’re now serving families in Cleveland, Fairview Park and Westlake.

John Jr. and Yolanda Craciun began with a commitment to a high standard of service and community involvement. Throughout our history, we’ve upheld that legacy. As part of the Dignity Memorial® family, we offer the warm service you'd expect from a locally owned business and benefits no other provider can.
