Personalized memorial services and funerals
The team at Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Mortuary is knowledgeable in the funeral customs of many faiths and cultures, and they are attentive to the beliefs of families from all walks of life. They can arrange services at churches, temples, synagogues, cemeteries and more.
Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Mortuary has a modern chapel with seating for up to 250 guests. The chapel features a sound system with cordless microphone and large flat-screen televisions for multimedia memorial tributes. The Tranquility Room is a flexible space for everything from an intimate gathering to a large catered reception.
Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Mortuary believes that a funeral service should be as unique as the person it honors. Our professional planners take the time to find inspiration—a favorite song, hobby, trademark style, defining philosophy or lifelong passion—for a memorial service filled with thoughtful and meaningful details. We are innovative thinkers who will honor a music fanatic, classic car lover, green thumb, movie buff or any other in an uncommon and wonderfully memorable way. We celebrate life.
Cremation is important in certain religions and cultures. More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial options, but most people aren’t familiar with all of their choices when it comes to cremation. You may choose a direct cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind; a funeral with the body present, followed by cremation; or a cremation followed by a cemetery service or a celebration of life.
The private on-site crematory at Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Mortuary means that your loved one never leaves our care. If you wish, cremated remains can be placed at Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Memorial Park.

Harbor Rest Memorial Park was founded in the 1950s by the Flanagan family. Harbor Lawn Mortuary was built on the cemetery property in 1978. To celebrate the expansion, Ronald Reagan, California’s 33rd governor and later the 40th president of the United States, raised the flag that flies at the entrance. Reagan was the keynote speaker at the cemetery's annual Memorial Day service that year.
Mt. Olive Cemetery was established in the 1960s to serve the Jewish communities of Orange County and Long Beach. Several temples have since dedicated their own areas of the cemetery.
Today, Harbor Rest Memorial Park and Mt. Olive Cemetery operate as a single cemetery: Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Memorial Park. It and the funeral home are part of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery providers.
Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Memorial Park cemetery
Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Memorial Park cemetery comprises 29 beautiful acres in Orange County. With manicured gardens, meandering walkways, green lawns and stately trees, the cemetery property is a peaceful place for families and friends to remember loved ones.
The cemetery offers in-ground burial, mausoleum entombment, columbaria, cremation niches, scattering gardens, and private and semiprivate estates. The Court of Devotion includes a garden mausoleum embellished with imported marble and bronze statues. Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Memorial Park includes Orange County’s only consecrated Jewish garden, as well as a newer section called the Alcove of Abraham.
Our Veterans Memorial pays tribute to the heroes who served our nation. Thanks to the donations and hard work of the Costa Mesa community and local veterans’ organizations, we expanded the Veterans Memorial area in 2008, installing a brick pathway that leads to an American flag. Each brick is inscribed with the name of a deceased veteran, birth and death dates, and terms of endearment. This section of our cemetery provides a stirring setting for our annual Memorial Day observance.

Caring for the community
For decades Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Memorial Park & Mortuary have been committed to serving the communities of Orange County and Long Beach. That commitment extends to many local organizations, such as the American Diabetes Association and United Way.
We invite everyone in the community to join us for our annual events. Our Memorial Day observance includes a hot dog cookout and military flyovers. In October, we host an annual pet adoption in conjunction with local pet adoption agencies, shelters and rescue groups.
Each year between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, we hold a Kever Avot service. All members of the community are welcome as we pray together, support one another and honor the memory of our loved ones.
In December, our multifaith service of remembrance includes a candle lighting ceremony and the opportunity for people to hang ornaments with the names of their loved ones on our tree.
