History

The Murphy Funeral Home in Falls Church, Virginia, opened in 1965 after founders, Robert J. and Betty Murphy decided to open another location in Northern Virginia to better serve the community. The original Murphy Funeral Home opened in 1956 and was located in Arlington on Columbia Pike and relocated to a larger home on Wilson Boulevard in 1975.

With more than 60 years of service, the Murphy Funeral Homes have continued to evolve and grow with the diverse and changing Northern Virginia community. We are guided by a quote from our founder, Mr. Murphy: "You don't make yourself known. You make yourself worthy of being known."

"Brooke was simply wonderful. She balanced the situation so well - offering sympathy in her words and tone but managed to get the information we needed to us in a clear, concise, and timely manner."

"My mother, Mary Hon, passed away on the 17th of January this year. She was 91 but still her death was sudden and left me in a fog. I am so grateful to the staff at Murphy Funeral Home who literally walked us through the many details of her body's preparation, helped us with the required paper work including Social Security, and the flight to Athens, AL where she was buried next to dad. I highly recommend Murphy Funeral Home. They are compassionate and professional. You can entrust your loved one to their care and know that the directors are there to help you bury your loved one with honor and respect."

"We employed the services of Murphy Funeral Home - Falls Church when my father passed away fifteen years ago. We remembered how caring and professional they were and how they helped us develop services that were meaningful to us. When Mom passed away a few weeks ago, we again turned to Murphy to help us through this difficult time. Due to Covid-19, this time was even more challenging but the staff at Murphy were extremely knowledgeable and walked us through every step of the way. This was an outstanding experience."
