Mike started his funeral service career at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel in 1992. He is the longest active funeral director in the North Jefferson area, having served hundreds of families over the years. Mike has achieved the designation of Certified Funeral Service Practitioner, which is a voluntary program to distinguish those who offer more than what is expected of them. It is the highest professional designation in funeral service.
Mike considers community and professional involvement an honor. He is a chamber ambassador for the Gardendale Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Fultondale Chamber of Commerce, and a past board member and coach for Gardendale Girls Softball. Mike is active in the funeral industry on the state level as a member of the executive board of the Alabama Funeral Directors Association, where he has been instrumental in helping pass new laws to strengthen funeral service in the state. He also serves on many committees for the organization and has advocated for more benefits for military veterans.
Mike and his wife are active in the Gardendale School system, participating and supporting their twin daughters. Mike’s hobbies include traveling, boating, college football and spending time with his family. Mike is proud to be part of this great community and feels blessed to work with a group of caring professionals who are committed to creating memories that will last a lifetime.
