Mike Yates is a certified funeral service practitioner and the general manager of Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel and Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Mike began his funeral service career at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel in 1992 and feels blessed to work with a group of caring professionals who are committed to creating memories that will last a lifetime. As the longest active funeral director in the North Jefferson area, he has served hundreds of families throughout his career.
As a proud member of our community, Mike serves as chamber ambassador for the Gardendale Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Fultondale Chamber of Commerce and has served on the board and coached for Gardendale Girls Softball. Mike is also active on the state level, serving on the executive board of the Alabama Funeral Directors Association (AFDA) and has been instrumental in the passing of new laws to strengthen the professionalism of funeral service in Alabama. He currently serves on many committees within the AFDA and has actively advocated for more benefits for our veterans.
When not at work, Mike and his wife are active in the Gardendale School System participating with and supporting their twin daughters. Mike’s hobbies include traveling, boating, college football and spending time with his family.
Kelly Coleman Karrh
Kelly has compassionately provided care to families in Jefferson County and the surrounding area since 2010. Kelly earned Associate of Applied Science degree in funeral service education from Jefferson State Community College in 2012. As a member of the Dignity Memorial® team, he proudly guides each family through one of the most difficult times of life. When he is not serving families, Kelly enjoys spending time with his family, reading and being involved in different activities at the First Baptist Church in Mount Olive.
Vincent E. Shannon
Vincent Shannon has been a licensed funeral director for more than 40 years. He takes great pride in providing families with care, patience, and compassion as he assists them with services for their loved ones. Vince is a graduate of Jefferson State's Mortuary Science and Funeral Service Education Program. Vince and his wife have been married since the 1970s and have 2 grown sons. They enjoy attending Alabama football games, bicycling and summer family vacations to the beach.

Gene, a lifelong resident of Birmingham, has served a variety of roles in the funeral industry for nearly 3 decades. He now serves on our team where he got his start, and his main role is to help families through the process of making funeral arrangements. Gene fulfills his duty to each family with utmost respect.
