Modern and stylish funeral home
With a stylish, modern, designer interior, the funeral home is a welcoming space. Palm Southwest Mortuary has comfortable arrangement offices and visitation rooms, as well as a freestanding, natural stone fireplace that creates the perfect indoor space to visit with loved ones before or after memorial services. During cooler months, the patio is a lovely spot to reflect while taking in the gorgeous Spring Mountains located to the west.
Our fully equipped kitchen has warm oak cabinets, stylish granite and stainless steel appliances. We work with licensed, professional caterers to plan all types of receptions or food delivery before, during or after memorial services. This can range from a simple beverage service with snacks to a casual or formal meal at breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Elegant and versatile chapel
Our chapel holds up to 160 guests, offering a truly customizable service. Chairs can be used alone or with tables. Windows throughout the chapel allow for an abundance of natural light to stream in during services. The chapel also includes new audiovisual equipment, giving you the opportunity to display a memorial slideshow or video during services.
The chapel’s beautiful coffered ceiling highlights its high roof line, magnificent chandeliers and natural stone columns. The entrance to our desert-landscaped patio is located inside the chapel. You may choose to leave the patio doors open during the cooler months to allow gentle breezes and the quintessential aroma of the creosote plant to flow into the space.
Let’s start with a story
Every person has a unique life story, and at Palm Southwest Mortuary, we are experts at telling stories. Our associates take all the hobbies, passions and interests that make a loved one special and turn that inspiration into a one-of-a-kind tribute filled with thoughtful and meaningful details.
Did she often try her luck at the city’s many casinos? We can host a poker night in the chapel and give guests personalized decks of playing cards as mementos. If dad had a green thumb, we could display his favorite blooms and serve a catered meal inspired by the veggies in his garden. If you can name it, we can probably do it.
Palm Southwest Mortuary opened in 2016 and is the newest member of the Palm Group of Mortuaries. From humble beginnings in 1927, the group started with 1 location and 4 employees, growing to include 10 locations and more than 250 dedicated employees.
Anna Roberts Park establishes Palm Funeral Homes
Anna Roberts Park founded Palm Funeral Home in 1927 on the corner of First Street and Carson Avenue, where the Golden Nugget stands today. Originally from Pennsylvania, Anna arrived in Las Vegas in 1911 when she was in her early 20s. She had been living in Bakersfield, California, working as a cook in a boarding house when she met her future husband William Roberts. A savvy woman, Anna helped William run various business interests.
In 1912, she embarked on a cross-country journey to finance a lime and gypsum quarry near Slon, Nevada, the Nevada Lime and Plaster Co. The business (founded by her husband) is still in operation today. Anna’s efforts were very successful. She came back to Las Vegas $64,000 richer—that's around $1.6 million adjusted for inflation—and the quarry was opened.
During this time, the couple also owned and operated the People’s Store, a general store on Fremont Street. They traded dry goods for basketry and other crafts made by the Paiute Indians.
In 1915, Las Vegas’ undertaker was jailed briefly and subsequently run out of town. With the former undertaker gone, William saw an opportunity and opened the Las Vegas Undertaking Co., which drew on skills he learned from a former career. Anna learned on the job but eventually sought formal training in Los Angeles in 1920 while William ran the business.
When she came home in 1925, she discovered that her husband was being unfaithful and promptly filed for divorce. William left Las Vegas while Anna stayed, and in 1927, she opened Palm Funeral Home, named for a single palm tree in her yard. As a trusted funeral service provider, Palm Funeral Home won a contract to bury workers who died during the construction of the Hoover Dam.
Honoring Anna’s legacy
In 1946, Anna sold the business. Throughout our history, we have made it our mission to carry on Anna's commitment to serving Las Vegas families with the highest degree of compassion, respect and attention to detail. Today, we are a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers.
We serve veterans and public servants

As a participant in the Dignity Memorial® Homeless Veterans Burial Program, the funeral home provides free funeral services to homeless and indigent veterans who have no family to claim them. We firmly believe that all veterans deserve a fitting service, no matter their financial means.
We also participate in the Dignity Memorial Public Servants Program, which offers dignified and honorable tributes, at no cost, for career and volunteer law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency services personnel who fall in the line of duty.
