History

O.B. Davis Funeral Homes has been serving the Miller Place and Brookhaven community since 1858. E.A. Raynor acquired the business from Ambrose T. King, the local undertaker and cabinet maker in the historic village of Port Jefferson.

Upon the death of E.A. Raynor in 1914, his partner Orlando B. Davis took sole ownership of the funeral home and served his community until his death in 1927. In 1935, his family incorporated the business and separated their undertaking services from the furniture business.

Seeing the need for a larger facility, and sticking to its roots of historic Port Jefferson, the Davis family relocated their business to its present-day location: the eminent Federalist-style building located at Nesconset Highway and Terryville Road in Port Jefferson Station.

A Growing Business

Upon the passing of Ronald Leroy Davis in 1972, the Davis Family sold the business to George M. Conway, a 3rd-generation funeral director from Jackson Heights, Queens. He took the opportunity to expand O.B. Davis Funeral Homes and acquired Regan, DiPaola Funeral Home in Centereach, New York.

The latest addition to the O.B. Davis namesake came in 1990 when the Conway Family opened its doors to the people of Miller Place, New York. In 1999, the Dignity Memorial® Network of funeral, cremation and cemetery providers welcomed O.B. Davis Funeral Homes into its family.
