Bird was born and raised in Bulloch County. He graduated from Statesboro High School in 1970 and earned a mortuary science degree from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science. Bird became a licensed funeral director and embalmer in 1974.
He started his career at Barnes Funeral Home in Statesboro. In 1975, he became a partner in the funeral home, and the name was changed to Barnes-Hodges Funeral Home. Over the next 30 years, Barnes-Hodges Funeral Home evolved to become Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
Bird served as Bulloch County coroner for 16 years and was a Bulloch County commissioner for 8 years. He is a past president of the Statesboro Rotary Club and Statesboro Lions Club and a current member of Statesboro First United Methodist Church, where he has been on numerous boards.
Bird has been married to Betty DeLoach Hodges for 43 years. They have 1 son and 3 grandchildren.
Michael G Frost
Greg is a native of Bulloch County who grew up in Stilson. He graduated Southeast Bulloch High School in 1986 and attended Georgia Southern College. After attending Georgia Southern, Greg began his funeral service career at Smith-Tillman Mortuary, where he served his apprenticeship. Greg graduated Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in 1991 and became a licensed funeral director in 1992. Greg lives in Statesboro, attends Statesboro First United Methodist Church and is a member of Brooklet Kiwanis Club. He is an avid supporter and fan of Georgia Southern University athletics and Atlanta Braves Baseball.
Darlene is a native of Bulloch County and graduated from Southeast Bulloch High School in 1981. She has been in the funeral business since 1998 and received her Associate of Applied Science degree in funeral service education, cum laude from Jefferson State Community College in Birmingham, Alabama.
Darlene and her husband have 3 adult children and 2 dogs and reside in Brooklet.
Laura A Moore
Laura graduated from Statesboro High School in 1996 and began working at the funeral home in December of 1997. She enrolled in mortuary school in 2001 and obtained her associate degree in mortuary science from Ogeechee Technical College in 2003.
Laura is a member of the Statesboro First United Methodist Church, Statesboro Kiwanis Club and is active in the Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce.
