Our cemetery offerings
At Sunset Memorial Park, we recognize that determining the final resting place for your loved one is a personal experience. Whether you are interested in a burial, cremation or custom memorialization option, we are here to walk you through the process to ensure all of your wishes and needs are met with the utmost of care and highest standards.
Our fully staffed cemetery can assist your family with headstone and memorial design with many options. We have designed stones for all surrounding cemeteries since 1980.
Our cemetery team is active in the local community and to complement this involvement, we host 2 noteworthy events during the year. Our Memorial Day event is a time for families to remember their loved ones while also paying tribute to those who have served our great country. This includes a beautiful commemorative Memorial Day service with full veterans honors.
Additionally, our Luminary Christmas event is open to the public and invites families to place a luminary bag in the name of their loved one during the holiday season.
As a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers, our promise is to provide the compassionate care you expect from a locally operated establishment with the value and benefits you deserve.
Our cemetery office is open Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm and by appointment on Saturday. Please contact Sunset Memorial Park if you need immediate assistance or would like more information about our burial options and services.
The 32-acre Sunset Memorial Park opened in 1937 by Mini Edwards and her husband. In the early 1940s, our cemetery was purchased by Ethel and Henry Rees, who ran the park for 15 years. When Henry had a stroke in 1955, he and his wife moved to Oceanside, California, and his daughter, Betty, assumed ownership of the park.
The Harney family
Betty and her husband, Bob Harney, raised a family of 6 in a house located on the property, which they also used as the cemetery office. In addition, Bob and Betty had a horse ranch on the cemetery property and were known around the world for raising beautiful Appaloosa horses.
They retired in Hagerman Valley many years later, and Sunset Memorial Park is now a proud member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers.
Bob and Betty set a high standard at Sunset Memorial Park, making each family feel like their own. They were committed to giving each family a meaningful farewell for their loved one, a value that we uphold for families to this day.
