Felipe Gely
November 9, 1951 – March 14, 2023

Felipe Gely, 71, of Stillwater Township, New Jersey died Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at home surrounded by loved ones.
Felipe was born in New York City and lived there for 7 years before relocating to Elizabeth, New Jersey. He attended Thomas A. Edison Vocational & Technical High School where he studied electrical trade. Felipe was a self-employed Truck Driver for 22 years prior to retiring. He has been in Sussex County since 1992.
Felipe was a proud member and advocate of AA for more than 30 years. He was also a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church in Swartswood and volunteered with St. Paul’s Abbey in Andover Township. Felipe was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. His favorite and most enjoyable pastime was riding his motorcycle.
Felipe was preceded in death by his father, Marino Burgos; and his sister, Herminia Kosiba. He is survived by his beloved wife, Frances (Sutter) Gely; his sons, Philip Gely (Jacqui) and Jeffrey Gely (Alison); his daughter, Franny Latawiec (Jeffrey); his mother, Leonor Burgos; and his grandchildren, Cayla, Madison, Philip Jr., Fiona, Finnley, Adam, Alana and Rowan.
Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church, 203 Swartswood Rd, Newton, NJ 07860.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Felipe’s memory to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave, Newton, NJ 07860. Online condolences may be offered below.
