A compassionate Las Vegas funeral home
All families are welcome at Palm Downtown Funeral Home, no matter their background, beliefs or culture. We celebrate the diverse and vibrant Vegas community, and our team is familiar with many funeral rites and traditions. We also have team members who speak Spanish, German, Russian and Bulgarian.
The funeral home is designed for services of all types and sizes. There are 2 non-denominational chapels to suit your needs. Our main chapel, the largest in the valley, seats up to 400 guests in a traditional setting with aisles and pews. Stunning, midcentury, cutout windows located on the side of the chapel allow natural light to stream in during afternoon services. Our smaller chapel has a similar design and is wonderful for more intimate gatherings, and yet still seats up to approximately 200 guests.
Cremation services at Palm Downtown
Not everyone knows that there are many cremation options. If you are interested in cremation, the funeral home team can explain the process and different options. Whether its a direction cremation without a memorial service, a witness cremation, a full funeral service (before or after the cremation) or something else entirely, we'll help you understand this increasingly common choice. Our funeral home team will guide you through handling all the cremation arrangements.
For some cultures and religions, it is traditional for family members to witness the cremation of a loved one. We are pleased to be able to offer this service to our families with our on-site crematory. With this service, you can be assured that your loved one will never leave our care. If you wish, the cemetery team at Palm Downtown Cemetery can help you make burial arrangements for cremated remains.
However, even if you choose another cemetery, the funeral home team at Palm Downtown Funeral Home will be more than happy to help you make your final wishes a reality and coordinate with whatever cemetery team you do choose. No matter what your desires, our funeral home team is honored to help make that happen.
Celebrating life like no other
Every person’s life has a unique story. At Palm Downtown Funeral Home, we are experts at telling stories. Our funeral directors will listen to you to create a meaningful and memorable tribute that celebrates and honors your loved one’s passions and personality.
Our team can find inspiration almost anywhere. If he spent every weekend hitting the links, we can transform our chapel into a putting green and give each guest personalized tees and golf balls. If she loved gardening, we can have her favorite plants brought in to decorate the chapel and remind guests of the natural beauty she loved so much.
Of course, if you prefer a more traditional service, we can certainly do that too. Our goal is to make the memorial that's right for you and your specific style.

Founded in 1926 with 1 funeral home and 4 employees, The Palm group of funeral homes, cemeteries and crematories has grown to include 7 locations and more than 200 employees, caring for 1000s of Southern Nevada families each year. Palm Downtown Funeral Home opened in 1957 to better serve families in the Cultural Corridor and North Las Vegas. The facility’s midcentury architecture is iconic. Palm Downtown Cemetery opened that same year.
Las Vegas entrepreneurs
Anna Roberts Park founded the original Palm Funeral Home in 1926 on the corner of First Street and Carson Avenue, where the Golden Nugget stands today. Originally from Pennsylvania, Anna arrived in Las Vegas in 1911. She had been living in Bakersfield, California, as a cook in a boarding house when she met her future husband, William Roberts. A plucky and strong-willed woman, Anna helped her husband run his various business interests.
In 1912, she embarked on a cross-country journey to finance a lime and gypsum quarry near Slon, Nevada. Anna’s efforts were successful, and she came back to Las Vegas to open the quarry. The business, Nevada Lime and Plaster Co., was founded by William and is still in operation today. During this time, the couple also owned a general store on Fremont Street, called the People’s Store. Anna traded dry goods for basketry and other crafts made by the Paiute Indians.
Entrepreneurs turned undertakers
In 1915, the undertaker of Las Vegas was run out of town after a brief time in jail. With the former undertaker gone, William saw an opportunity and opened the Las Vegas Undertaking Co., which drew on skills he learned from a former career. Anna learned on the job, but in 1920, also sought formal training in Los Angeles while William ran the business.
Divorce of William Roberts
In 1925, Anna discovered that her husband had been unfaithful and promptly filed for divorce. The newspapers could not get enough of their juicy divorce and followed it closely. Unlike what was expected of women during that time, Anna refused to stand by and let her husband take everything they built together.
Caring for her community
In 1927, William left Las Vegas while Anna stayed and opened Palm Funeral Home, named after a single palm tree in her yard, and put her training into action. As a trusted funeral service provider, Palm Funeral Home held services for many local people, including the workers who died while constructing Hoover Dam. Although Anna sold the business in 1946, we carry on her commitment to serving the families of Las Vegas with the highest degree of compassion, respect and attention to detail.
Palm Downtown Cemetery
Situated on 25 acres of land, Palm Downtown Cemetery offers those who come to honor loved ones a peaceful place of remembrance. Numerous trees such as queen palms, live oak and Mondale pines provide shade to the cemetery grounds, which is much appreciated in the desert heat. The well-landscaped cemetery also features annual blooming flowers, nature gardens, a monument to Civil Rights and several water features—all of which make wonderful places to reflect.
Burial and cremation options for every family
A walk down any of our winding paths reveals a range of burial and cremation memorialization options to suit your needs.
For traditional ground burial property, we offer upright or flat markers, lawn spaces and crypts, 5 outdoor mausoleum complexes, private and semiprivate estates, and sarcophagi.
For families who prefer cremation, memorialization options include columbaria (glass- and granite-front niches are available), crypts, cenotaphs, benches, lawn niches, private and semiprivate estates, and scattering gardens.
If you prefer something more exclusive, we can custom-build a private estate or garden for an individual or multiple members of a family. The Palm Downtown Cemetery team will work with you to plan, develop and personalize a private estate, which is meant for casketed burial or placement of cremated remains. Similarly, a private garden can be used for the burial of up to 8 family members and customized with your choice of plants, flowers and shrubs. Each private garden is surrounded by a wrought-iron fence with a gate that locks.
Water features in the desert cemetery
Throughout the cemetery grounds, you'll find water features that offer peaceful places for reflection. Our Garden of Repose includes wonderful shade trees and a modern reflecting pool while the Garden of Roses has a bubbling fountain, which is adjacent to our private estate section and modern cremation garden. The cremation garden includes ossuaries, columbaria, memorial benches and niches.
Prepared for the future
Palm Downtown Cemetery stands ready to serve many more generations of Las Vegas families. We still have plenty of undeveloped land in our 25-acre cemetery. Our team stays up to date on the cemetery industry to ensure we offer the products and services that today’s families require. Please stop by at any time for a guided tour of our beautiful cemetery property.
The Garden of Dreams
The cemetery's Garden of Dreams opened in 2012 as a place to remember the U.S. Civil Rights movement. Completed in 2013, the Garden of Dreams serves to educate people about the struggles and successes on the journey toward equal rights in this country.
Queen palms mark the way to the Walk of Dreams, which leads to the Garden of Dreams’ Civil Rights Plaza. Memorialization pavers are available to honor loved ones, and the proceeds from the sale of pavers go to fund college scholarships.
Inside the Civil Rights Plaza, 14 polished granite stars embedded in the floor of the plaza represent the U.S. Constitution’s 14th Amendment. Each year, we honor the contributions of a leader in the civil rights movement by dedicating a star on the walkway. In the center of the plaza, a 40-foot-tall, rock-pitched torch represents the ideal—when we all live together in harmony as equals.
The expansive lawn surrounding the Garden of Dreams offers a beautiful view of Sunrise Mountain and includes both ground burial and cremation options.
We care about the Las Vegas community
We extend an open invitation for anyone to join us at Palm Downtown Funeral Home for our annual community events.
Our Memorial Day service honors those who have given their lives in service to our country. Prior to the service, American flags are placed throughout the cemetery on the graves of service members by members of the American Legion Post 8.
During the first week of November, we host a popular Día de Muertos celebration. This lively event celebrates Mexican culture and honors those who have passed by supporting their spiritual journey. Live bands play traditional music and we hand out Mexican chocolates and loaves of bread. The day’s festivities are concluded with a religious mass.
We invite all families to join us as we celebrate the lives of those we’ve lost throughout the year and gain a sense of peace from the healing power of community.
