We have a tradition of caring, keeping our promises and reaching out to you in difficult times. As funeral professionals, our staff understands your moments of need and will provide a seamless funeral planning process paired with compassionate and thoughtful care. Whether you prefer a traditional funeral, cremation or contemporary celebration of life, our team will guide you through each step. At Heritage Chapel Funeral Home, we are your neighbors, we are your friends and we are always here for you.
Custom funerals and memorials
In addition to helping you plan a funeral or memorial service, we can create a meaningful event loved ones will remember for years. From photographs and keepsakes to food and music, it can be as simple or elaborate as you wish. Simply provide the inspiration for the celebration and we’ll take care of all the details—no matter how big or small.
As we work to customize your experience, we also help write obituaries, offer plan-ahead funeral options, design video slideshows and schedule flexible visitation hours. No matter the need, we'll do our best to provide it in a peaceful setting.

With roots dating back to 1925, Heritage Chapel Funeral Home has served families in Tuscaloosa and West Alabama with their funeral services for over 80 years.
Serving the early families of Tuscaloosa
In 1925, George Spigener and H. Grady Jones opened the Jones and Spigener Funeral Home in downtown Tuscaloosa, located near the present-day First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa. Jones and Spigener Funeral Home served residents in Tuscaloosa, Northport and West Alabama in its downtown location until 1960. In 1960, the funeral home relocated to a new facility at 1805 8th Avenue and through the years saw several name changes.
Upgrades, renovations and a new name
In August 1996, a beautiful state-of-the art facility was built at our current location on Old Birmingham Highway. To honor the rich heritage of service to the West Alabama area, the funeral home was rededicated as Heritage Chapel Funeral Home.
Continued high-quality standards
Today, we’re proud to be a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. The Heritage funeral service tradition started in historic downtown Tuscaloosa with a commitment to the community and a high standard of service. Throughout our history, we have continued to lead and innovate while maintaining our reputation of providing caring service to our families. Everyone at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is proud to uphold this legacy and commitment to our community.
