Her first home was in Huntington Beach, where she lived with her mom, Gina, and her Nana.
She had a rough start at life having been born with a congenital heart defect but in spite of her
challenges, she was an incredibly happy baby. Much of the first year and a half of her life was
spent in CHOC hospital but she loved her nurses and her mom spent every night in the hospital
with her. By the time she was a year and a half she had her second and final heart surgery. She
finally started to thrive.
As a baby, Alicia loved to watch Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers. She was happy, playful and had
an amazing imagination. She used to tell her mom bedtime stories that she would make up.
She enjoyed frequent visits to the Santa Ana Zoo and watching the monkeys. Her favorite
summertime activity was playing in the sprinklers.
When Alicia was young, she moved around a lot living in Stanton, Orange, Torrance, Chino,
Rancho Cucamonga, Monterey Park and finally Chino Hills where she lived with her mom and
step-dad, Rahim, attending Ruben S. Ayala High School. Although she moved around a lot,
Alicia was always great at making friends. Her best childhood friend was Michella, who she met
while living in Torrance. They remained friends until Michella passed away at the age of 19.
Although Alicia was not a fan of school, she always did well. She worked hard and always put
her best effort. Her favorite classes were English and Art. These classes really fostered her
creativity and she looked forward to them.
Alicia had two brothers and one sister on her mom’s side; Jonathan, Nasreen and Rowen. She
also had one sibling on her dad’s side, Hailey. Alicia was such a good big sister. She loved her
siblings so much and was extremely helpful with them. There was seldom a time that she
wasn’t holding or playing with them. She had a beautiful glow being around her siblings; she
loved them so much.
Throughout high school, Alicia enjoyed friends and going to downtown Pomona to see bands
play. She was a lover of all music but at that time in her life she loved Katy Perry, No Doubt,
311 and the Strokes. She also loved quiet time. She could often be found quietly reading a book
in her room. One book she really enjoyed reading was “A Clockwork Orange.”
In 2004, Alicia graduated from high school. She was unsure of her next steps, so she decided to
try some community college courses. She spent a couple of semesters at Fullerton J.C. and
realized that college was not for her. She instead focused on her job at Disneyland. In her early
20s, she decided she wanted independence and adventure. She took the initiative to find an
apartment and job in Hollywood and made her first big move. She loved the fast-paced
environment of the city but found Hollywood was not the place for her, so she moved home for
a short time. Chino Hills was not the city she desired to live in, she had her eyes on San Diego. It
provided both the fast-paced city life she loved and the beauty of the ocean; a sanctuary she
often visited when she needed solace.
Alicia loved San Diego and all it had to offer. Great food, friends, and scenery. It was her home
for the last 10 years of her life with a brief exception when she went to Utah for seven months.
This was a place that offered a safe space for her to better herself, focus on her health and well-
being. She eventually returned to the city she loved.
In the Spring of 2021, Alicia began to experience health issues she could no longer ignore.
Though she tried to do what she needed to improve her health, her issues were too great, and
she succumbed to her illnesses on June 28 th . She was surrounded by those who loved her most
as she peacefully passed at 11:58 pm. Her life was cut short, but her spirit lives on in the heart
of all who loved her.
Alicia was a beloved granddaughter, daughter, sister, and friend and she will be so deeply
missed on this Earth by everyone who loved her.
